About us

A playground for the morning

An alternative to sweaty nightclubs and hangover-filled days. Free for everyone — whatever your background or age — to come together to the sound of electronic music.

A crowd dancing with their arms up at Morning Beat

“The first time I went to a morning rave, I thought, wow. It’s just like stepping into a nightclub at half past midnight.”

Why we do it

Open, safe, and sober

We don’t take something away. We create something else.

We build open, safe communities where everyone can be themselves — live, grow and develop. Our work is about preventing substance abuse by showing, every morning, how good a party can feel without it.

Our events are substance-free. That doesn’t mean we are strictly abstinent — we want to offer a different kind of alternative.

Politically and religiously independent.

Active leisure

Moving together is the best start to a day.

Social entrepreneurship & sustainability

Built to last, open for anyone to run.

Radical inclusion & diversity

Every background, every age, every body.

A morning with us

Four things make a Morning Beat

Morning DJs

Legends in their field

Up-beat, playful and intense — DJs who know how to lift a room at seven in the morning.

Morning yoga

Land softly

Educated yoga instructors close every morning. You can book them for your own sessions too.

The dancers

The energy is ours

The people who come create the energy — together. Every person on the floor adds to it.

The after effect

The afterglow

A high with no comedown. Carry it into your day and pass it on.

Two ways in

Morning Beat and MoveMakeMagic

Morning Beat

The gateway

Accessible, joyful, energetic. Dance in the morning.

MoveMakeMagic

The wider playground

Ecstatic dance, church gatherings, youth projects, experimental formats, retreats and more.

Beyond the morning

Our other concepts

Not everything we do starts at dawn. These happen later in the day, for those who like to sleep in or have little ones to get going first.

MoveMakeMagic

Dancing in church

A day where the church becomes a dance floor: movement instead of words, magic instead of sermons. No talking on the floor, no phones, no substances. At Sofienberg Kirke in Oslo.

MoonRise

A festival at Nesodden

In August 2025 we took the dance to Nesodden for MoonRise: a festival day of music, movement and community.

Out in the city

Dancing in the streets

We take the dance floor out into the city, onto streets, squares and parks, where anyone passing by can join in.

Coming

More to come

New ideas are on the way, like Mountain Beat in the mountains at Voss. The newsletter hears about them first.

Who we are

The team

Morning Beat is owned by Øyunn Iversen, who was part of starting it, and run by MoveMakeMagic AS in Oslo. But most of all, we are a community. The three who run it day to day:

Miwa

Miwa

Co-founder, MoveMakeMagic

Miwa is an intuitive artist and trauma-informed somatic facilitator, weaving breathwork and de-armouring into her practice. She sees embodiment as a doorway back to the self — a way of remembering, through movement and presence. As co-founder of Move Make Magic, she creates transformative spaces where people can play seriously, express authentically, and meet themselves more fully. One of her guiding beliefs: life is meant to be a playful dance — and the more of you that shows up, the better.

Magnus

Magnus

Co-founder, MoveMakeMagic

An experienced heart circle facilitator and a professional coach focusing on relationships and deep purpose alignment, Magnus is dedicated to holding and co-creating safe containers for authentic expressions, vulnerability and deep presence.

With a passion for compassionate non-conformity and a distaste for hierarchy and power abuse, one of his mantras is: We’re going nowhere until everyone feels safe.

Mayurathan

Mayurathan

Co-founder, MoveMakeMagic

Mayurathan, also known as Mayu, is passionate about the inner journey — the ongoing exploration of the self, including the parts we know and those we’ve yet to meet. He sees this journey as a dialogue between our inner world and the outer one: how our hidden beliefs, emotions, and patterns shape our reality, and how life’s challenges and relationships reflect back opportunities for growth. Mayu loves to create welcoming spaces where people can explore with curiosity, presence, and a willingness to become more of themselves.

Anyone who wishes may use the Morning Beat concept for their own events. Each organiser forms their own organisation, with its own finances and organisation number, and runs local events in the spirit of Morning Beat: inclusion, health and community.

Morning Beat in your town

Start one where you live

Anyone who wants to start a Morning Beat may use the name and the brand freely. We only want one thing: Morning Beat everywhere <3 Write to us, and Øyunn and the team will help you through the start.
